The terms for using Listen in.
By using Listen in — the iOS app or the website — you agree to the points below. We've written them in plain English. If something is unclear, ask us at hello@listenin.uk.

What Listen in is
Listen in is a tool that listens to a conversation you're part of, transcribes it, and gives you a plain-English summary you can read later or share. It is operated in the United Kingdom by Harry Winteringham.
Listen in is not a medical, legal, financial, or educational professional. The summaries and explanations it produces are best-effort guidance generated by AI. They can be wrong. Always confirm important details with the person you're meeting — your doctor, lawyer, school, or caseworker.
What you agree to
- Use it for conversations you're part of. Don't use Listen in to record or transcribe people without their knowledge in places where the law requires consent.
- Don't break the law with it. Don't use Listen in for harassment, surveillance, or anything illegal where you live.
- Don't try to break the app. Don't reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract other users' data from the service.
- You're responsible for what you share. If you forward a meeting link to someone, you're choosing to share that meeting with them.
Cost and account
Listen in is free to download and use during the v1 launch. There is no account login. If we introduce paid features later, you'll see them clearly described before you opt in — nothing free will become paid retroactively.
How we handle your data
Read the Privacy page — that's where the details live, and it forms part of these terms.
In short: recordings stay on your phone, audio is processed in memory and not stored on our servers, shared meetings are stored as ciphertext we cannot read, and you can delete everything from inside the app.
Things we can't promise
- Accuracy. Speech-to-text and AI summaries make mistakes. Don't rely on Listen in alone for medical, legal, or financial decisions.
- Uptime. The service depends on third parties (Speechmatics, Anthropic, Render). It will sometimes be down or slow.
- Compatibility. Listen in supports recent iPhones and modern browsers. Older devices or browsers may not work properly.
Limits on our liability
Listen in is provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost data, missed appointments, or any decision you made on the basis of an inaccurate transcript or summary.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability we have for fraud, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or anything else that cannot legally be excluded under UK consumer law.
Changes to these terms
If we change anything material here, we'll update the "Last updated" date and, where it affects you, let you know in the app the next time you open it.
Ending your use
You can stop using Listen in at any time. To remove all your data, use Settings → Delete All My Data. We may suspend access to anyone who breaks these terms or harms other users.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be heard in the courts of England and Wales.
